GLOBAL 2010 Planning has Begun;
Arts Council and MoLAA to host 2010 Planning Meeting

GLOBAL, a new Arts Council program that promoted over 300 arts and cultural events and listings in Long Beach as part of National Arts and Humanities Month during this past October, is wrapping up its inaugural year with plans already underway for 2010.

Arts Council organizers invite the public to participate in the first GLOBAL 2010 planning meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Museum of Latin American Art, 628 Alamitos Avenue, Long Beach, CA.

“If 2009 was the ‘appetizer’ year for GLOBAL, then 2010 and the years ahead point toward a real feast with a menu to satisfy the most discerning palates,” states Craig Watson, Executive Director, Arts Council for Long Beach. “GLOBAL makes tangible the best aspirations for Long Beach as a creative arts and culture destination.”

GLOBAL helps local and regional audiences discover hundreds of arts and cultural events in Long Beach. From grand world-class music and theater performances to stunning poetry by emerging voices, Long Beach weaves history, music, dance, and art forms of all kind into a vibrant GLOBAL tapestry.

The GLOBAL website, located at www.globalLB.com, includes custom-built Event Itineraries, calendar listings by date, email sign-ups and more.

Earlier this summer, a planning group consisting of a broad cross-section of arts leaders met for the first time in early June 2009 at the Museum of Latin American Art and quickly embraced the idea of transforming “October is Arts Month” into a new and expanded “signature event,” attracting local and regional visitors and, over time, international guests and more overnight stays in the city to experience all that Long Beach has to offer.
